Today’s success story is about a woman named Debbie. At a fairly standard GYN appointment a couple years after her son was born, she discovered she was suddenly in menopause. That moment began a journey that spanned 9 REs — all telling her she’d never have another child. So she dove head first into researching donor eggs and adoption. Join us to hear how she uncovered the power of acupuncture and a hopeful mindset to become pregnant on her own after a half-dozen infertility diagnoses.

What you’ll hear in this episode:

  • Get to know Debbie: a 35-year-old mom in the San Francisco Bay area who works in children’s TV and media and loves writing and rollerblading
  • Before infertility, Debbie was the same person she is today, but is more aware now of the difficulties that others are going through
  • A strong relationship with common interests and marriage in 2010
  • Debbie’s love for kids helped her know that she wanted to be a mom
  • An easy first pregnancy, a son, and then secondary infertility
  • A regular gynecology appointment and menopause at age 34!
  • The first of nine RE’s: “There is nothing we can do.”
  • Finding acupuncture as a last resort: “We CAN get you pregnant.”
  • Hashimoto’s and other diagnoses
  • Debbie’s darkest moment
  • Regaining hope and finding empowerment through drastic changes
  • Debbie’s experiments with alternative medicine

  • Finding success on her own
  • How infertility has changed Debbie to give her a special bond with other women
  • Debbie’s advice to herself at the beginning of infertility: “I wouldn’t let anxiety and depression control me so much.”
