Infertility Coaching with Heather Huhman

Before we begin, Dr. Rodgers gives the latest COVID update on ASRM recommendations for vaccinations and procedures. Dr. Rodgers proceeds by answering six listener questions. The full questions are read on the air, but here are brief summaries:

  • Amanda, 41, has had seven egg retrievals that have only yielded three normal embryos. They have moved to FET cycles with no success, so she asks how to proceed next in her quest to have two children.
  • Megan, 28, has had seven failed transfers. Her recent Receptiva biopsy indicates endometriosis, so she asks if Lupron or a laparoscopy would be the best next step.
  • Cvetelina, 36, has been trying to conceive for more than two years, and her first IUI was earlier this month. The semen analysis from 20 months ago was normal, but now there are no sperm. She is confused and asks how this can be explained.
  • Denise, 32, asks for information on amalgam dental fillings and their relation to infertility and if the mercury in them can cause infertility.
  • Sheeva, 33, is ready for IVF with 13 embryos that haven’t been tested. With her third FET upcoming, her options are to transfer two embryos or do genetic testing. She asks about thawing, testing, and refreezing her embryos.
  • Stephanie, 32, is dealing with male factor infertility. After two rounds of IVF, they have only one embryo, and a different protocol gave even worse results. She asks if there could be an egg quality problem, if she should consider donor eggs, and how many normal embryos she should bank to have two children.
