She was diagnosed with secondary unexplained infertility, but as a military family, she felt she’d be better off figuring out the answer on her own rather than pursuing a reproductive endocrinologist. Although she now suspects diminished ovarian reserve, her official diagnosis was unexplained infertility. Due to her age, she went straight to IVF, but after 3 failed cycles, she decided to give IUI a try. Unfortunately, those didn’t work either. Today’s episode is special in that there is no outside success story guest. Instead, I finally share my story. After being diagnosed with endometriosis in 2007, we began trying to get pregnant in 2011. We endured two miscarriages in 2012, moved to a RE and then a new RE, and were diagnosed with the MTHFR gene mutation. We began IVF and became pregnant with our twins, Eric and Alexis. At 21 weeks, my incompetent cervix couldn’t hold, and the twins were born but could not survive. This was the lowest moment of our journey.
