Today’s success story is about a woman named Adelle. She’s a 35-year-old high school teacher who knew from a young age she wanted to have kids and, in fact, planned her entire adult life around them. Her infertility journey spans the better part of a decade and multiple partners. Her ex-husband was a paraplegic and thus in a wheelchair when they met when she was just 20 years old. So, when they were ready to start a family in her mid-twenties, she thought it would be a simple matter of getting his healthy sperm into her. However, with infertility, it’s rarely so simple. Join us to hear how she became pregnant with twins via IUI following two failed IVF cycles with her ex and five IUI cycles and a miscarriage with her current husband.

Her first husband had a lot of medical issues and ultimately passed away. It took her several years and some big life changes to move forward. However, motherhood finally felt like a possibility once she met the man who is now her husband. Although they could have seen someone sooner because she was over 35, they tried on their own for about 10 months before visiting her OB for some initial testing. When we last spoke, she had just completed a successful IVF cycle, which unfortunately ended in a chemical pregnancy. Since then, she’s had a pelvic MRI, hysteroscopy, a second opinion, and an appointment with a reproductive immunologist, all of which resulted in a host of additional diagnoses. Today’s success story is about a woman named Ariane. Before infertility, she was an achiever who was always giving 110%, but empathy wasn’t one of her strengths. She married her husband at a young age, and they’ve now been married for 11 years. They have a playful relationship and support each other’s individual growth and passions. They started trying to conceive in the spring of 2014 and got pregnant relatively quickly but miscarried at 6 weeks. About 15 months later, a week before they planned to undergo fertility testing with her OB, they learned they were pregnant again, which unfortunately also ended in a miscarriage. Join us to hear how a shocking diagnosis led to the recommendation to pursue donor egg IVF, how her empathy for others grew immensely, and how they ultimately decided to remain child-free.

Today’s journey story is about a woman named Jane. Although she’s always known she wanted to be a mom, she didn’t meet her husband until later in life. They were married last August when she was 35 and he was 38. As a couple, they both consider themselves foodies and like taking adventurous trips together. Like so many listeners, Jane is a proactive Type-A personality who saw her OB for basic testing after only 5 months of actively trying to conceive. Today’s success story is about a man named Dan. Although his wife is an American, they met in London after connecting online while she was there on travel. At the age of 32, his wife was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and was deemed a “poor responder” to treatment. As a result, they were advised to immediately pursue IVF. Although he was initially excited about their first cycle, he understandably became quite discouraged when it didn’t work. Join us to how he and his wife went through three more IVF cycles through both the NHS and a private clinic before eventually becoming pregnant with twins.
